EDUCATION SYSTEM

The Italian higher education system consists of two main articulations: the university sector and the non-university sector.

Currently the university sector comprise of 89 university institutions out of which

• 58 State universities and 17 non-State universities (legally recognized by the State).
• 2 Universities for foreigners.
• 6 Higher schools specialized in postgraduate university studies.
• 6 Telematic universities.

The non-university sector includes 4 education typologies with their institutions:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are general eligibility requirements for admission into a recognized institution in Italy and they include;

• Hold a foreign high-school diploma/bachelor degree (for graduate students) that proves that you qualify for university education in Italy with a minimum of 59% in your last two years of study.
• English or Italian language proficiency depending on the program you want to apply for. TOEFL and IELTS are the generally accepted English exams.
• Specific programs require particular scores in specific subjects
• Specific universities also have entrance exams for different programs.

COST OF STUDY

• Approximately 3300 Euros per year, fees may vary depending on the university and course of study.
• For Specialized degree and doctoral courses the fee would be on a higher side

STAYBACK

• Stay back of 6-12 months for masters/PhD and part time work rights of 20 hours per week

INTAKES

• The academic year consists of two semesters. The first semester starts in September/October and ends in January/February. The second semester starts in February and ends in July.

SCHOLARSHIPS

International students can absolutely get a full-ride scholarship in Italy by applying for scholarships offered by the Italian government
